Duo show with Joeri Boelhouwer at Projectspace Lokaal Utrecht
Dear Stefan,
As a student, I once got familiarized with your work
through one of my teachers. I was fascinated by your
use of photographic imagery and was really struck by
your project/exhibition called Fünf neue Bilder.
Thecombination of the undemanding title and the images
containing (I think) large darkroom prints in uniform
size struck me as a combination worth keeping in mind.
Here I am today, working on a small exhibition opening
this November, and I can’t imagine the exhibition being
titled anything different than the one you used in 2017.
I see myself working in the studio on five new works.
Not more not less, just as if you assigned me through
leaving a trace on the internet. So here am I, in a sense
asking for your permission to use the same title and also
acknowledging that the work sticks to the mind as if it
were a memory of an exhibition I had seen in real life.

thanks for your collegial email. Happy to hear that
‚fünf neue Bilder‘ resonated over the edges of Zurich.
The title is so generic that it would not occur to me to
claim it as my own. The same applies to the images
of that show. They’re not mine, they belong to nobody.
You can use what you want from it.
